Taking a Screenshot on a Mac

Easily take a screenshot on your Mac without downloading any additional software. All screenshots will be saved to your desktop.

Capturing your entire screen

  1. Press Command (⌘) > Shift > 3

Capturing a portion of your screen

  1. Press Command (⌘) > Shift > 4
  2. Click and drag the crosshairs to select your area.

To cancel, click the Escape key and release your mouse.

Capturing a specific window

  1. Press Command (⌘) > Shift > 4
  2. Press the spacebar
  3. Hover over the window you want to capture (A transparent blue overlay will appear over the window).
  4. Click the window

NOTE: To capture a menu open the menu prior to step 1.
