Day 1 of Blackboard World 2015 kicked off with the corporate keynote where CEO Jay Bhatt and staff shared information on the NEW Blackboard. As a student and fan of Blackboard, it’s very exciting to see the direction that they are moving towards.
The phrase of the conference was the New Learning Experience or NLE for short. The NLE is Blackboard’s new approach to education and their products. At last year’s BbWorld, we heard about their commitment to access and open education, which launched Open Education powered by Blackboard. This year we’re hearing more about the user experience.
Five pieces make up the NLE, one of which is connected and tightly integrated workflows. One of the many ways this has been shown is through the new BbStudent app. The new app will integrate the current mobile learn and collaborate apps and feature the New School design language. BbStudent is the first persona-based app that has been released and is available on iOS, Android, and Windows Phone. Instructors can also expect a BbInstructor app that will replace the current BbGrader app.
