Reaching all students in a multi-campus university system using Blackboard tools (PAN50076)

The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV), established September 2015, is the newest component of the University of Texas System. UTRGV, who’s legacy institutions include University of Texas Pan Am and University of Texas Brownsville, has a student enrollment of over 28,800. In this session, participants will learn how a newly established university leverages the use of Blackboard Learn, Blackboard Collaborate, and Blackboard IM to develop and deliver distance education to six campus sites across a 100 mile geographical area in deep south Texas. The key was formulating an organizational culture change, which would embrace the Blackboard solutions into its educational courses and programs. This approach included developing a comprehensive training plan for faculty and staff, implementing a measurement and incentive system, engaging stakeholders, modifying the physical and virtual workplace, adjusting the workflow and information distribution, and building trust. The panel presenters will discuss the approach in detail and length.
